Privacy Policy — Code Compiler
Code Compiler does not require an account or sign-in. Your code files are stored locally in a database on your device, and are never uploaded to servers we operate. The app is available in 24 languages, and all UI translations run entirely on-device.
Data We Collect
- Code & files you create — file names, source code, and language are stored only in a local database on your device, never uploaded to our servers.
- Code execution data — when you tap Run, the source code and any input (stdin) you provide is sent to a third-party code execution service solely to compile/run it and return the output. It is not stored by us afterward.
- API Client tool — this optional built-in tool lets you send an HTTP request to test any URL you type in. The request (including the URL, method, and any body you enter) is sent directly to that address, and the response is shown to you in the app. We do not see, log, or store these requests or responses — they never pass through our servers.
- Developer Tools — the Regex Tester, JSON Formatter, and Base64/Hash Encoder run entirely on your device. Nothing you type into these tools is transmitted anywhere.
- In-app web content — the "Learning Hub" screen displays brynflow.com inside an embedded browser (WebView) within the app. Standard web technologies (such as cookies) used by the brynflow.com site itself may apply while that page is open, separately from the data practices described here.
- Preview features — AI Assistant, Cloud Sync, Git Integration, Challenges, and Community Snippets are currently offline preview/demo features. Any text you enter into them (e.g., a "connect" email or repository URL) is kept only in the app's memory for that session, is never transmitted or stored, and is cleared when you close the app. If any of these features are connected to a real backend in a future update, this policy will be updated first.
- App preferences — theme, editor font size, word wrap, language, and onboarding status are stored locally on your device only.
- Usage & diagnostic data — Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) collect anonymous feature-usage events, screen views, and crash/error reports, including device model, OS version, and app version. This never includes the contents of your code.
- Advertising — ads are served via Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers, IP address, and usage data. See Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of personalized ads via Device Settings → Google → Ads.
Permissions Used
INTERNET— running code, the optional API Client tool, ads, analytics/crash reporting, and loading the in-app Learning Hub page
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent personal data. The only third parties that may receive data are: the code execution service (the code/input you submit when you tap Run); the destination you enter when using the API Client tool (only if you choose to use it); and Google (Firebase Analytics/Crashlytics and AdMob, for anonymous usage, crash, and advertising data).
Data Storage & Security
Your code files and preferences are stored in a local database on your device. We operate no servers holding your code or personal information. Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all locally stored data.
Children's Privacy
Code Compiler is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Your Rights & Controls
- Delete any file directly in the app
- Delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Opt out of personalized ads via device settings
- Clear a file's execution history from within the app
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. The current version is always available at this page's URL.
