Most SSC exams (CGL, CHSL, and similar) test the same four core areas, though the exact weightage and question count vary by specific exam and tier.

1 Quantitative Aptitude

Arithmetic (percentages, ratio & proportion, averages, profit & loss, simple/compound interest, time-speed-distance, time & work), Algebra, Geometry & Mensuration, Trigonometry, and Data Interpretation (tables, graphs, charts).

2 General Intelligence & Reasoning

Analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, problem-solving, analysis, judgment, decision-making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, and coding-decoding.

3 English Language

Reading comprehension, grammar (error spotting, sentence correction, fill in the blanks), vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitution), idioms and phrases, and para-jumbles.

4 General Awareness

Current affairs, static GK (Indian history, geography, polity, economy), general science, and questions designed to test knowledge of India and its neighboring countries, especially pertaining to sports, history, culture, and scientific research.
