Stop starting new topics after week 6
If you're inside the 90-day window, resist the urge to chase syllabus completion for its own sake. Every new topic you start late competes for revision time on topics you've already covered — and JEE Main rewards accuracy and speed on familiar material far more than shallow exposure to everything. By roughly the halfway point of your remaining time, shift entirely from "learning" mode to "revision and practice" mode.
Subject-wise time allocation
A reasonable default split, adjusted for your personal weak areas:
- Physics (35%): Physics rewards conceptual clarity over memorization — prioritize mechanics, electrodynamics, and modern physics, since these consistently carry significant weight and build on each other.
- Chemistry (35%): Split roughly evenly across Physical, Organic, and Inorganic. Inorganic Chemistry is the highest-ROI subject in the final weeks — it's largely fact-recall, so it responds extremely well to focused, repeated revision in a way Physics problem-solving doesn't.

The weekly revision cycle
A cycle that works well for most students in the final stretch:
- Days 1-4: Active revision of one subject's weak chapters — redo problems you got wrong before, not just re-reading notes.
- Day 5: A full-length timed mock test (all three subjects, real exam duration).
- Day 6: Detailed mock analysis — not just checking your score, but categorizing every wrong answer as a concept gap, a careless error, or a time-management issue. These require completely different fixes.
- Day 7: Light review + rest. Burnout in the final weeks costs more than the marginal study hour gains.
Mock tests are diagnostic tools, not just practice
The score on a mock test matters far less than what you do with the analysis. After each mock, sort your mistakes into three buckets:
- Concept gaps — you genuinely didn't know the material. Go back to that specific topic, not the whole chapter.
- Careless errors — you knew it but made an avoidable mistake. Track these separately; a pattern (e.g. always messing up sign conventions) is fixable with a specific checklist, not more content review.
- Time management — you knew it but ran out of time. This usually means you need more timed practice on that question type, not more content knowledge.
Treating all three the same way — "study more" — wastes your remaining time. Each has a different fix.
The last two weeks
Stop attempting new full mock tests roughly 4-5 days before the exam — at that point, focus entirely on reviewing your formula sheets, common mistake logs, and light problem-solving to stay sharp without inducing fatigue or new doubt. Sleep and consistent routine matter more in the final 72 hours than any additional content you could cram.
